In GTA 6 you can buy garages, but from everything Rockstar has shown, not houses. Your safehouses come through the story and change as it moves through its chapters, and Rob Nelson, head of Rockstar North, compares them to the camps in Red Dead Redemption 2 rather than the apartments in GTA 5. No system for buying businesses has been confirmed either. This guide covers what Rockstar has actually said about safehouses, garages and property. GTA 6 launches November 19, 2026.

Safehouses
Jason and Lucia share one home at a time, and each has their own routine in it. Nelson told Famitsu that where they live changes from chapter to chapter as the story moves on. They're criminals trying to stay under the radar, which is presumably why you don't shop for real estate the way you did in GTA 5. Rockstar hasn't spelled out that reasoning, though.
The homes we know about so far:
- Jason's place in the Leonida Keys. A stilt house he lives in rent-free, owned by the smuggler Brian Heder, in return for doing jobs for him.
- A Vice City apartment. The one in the Extended Look, in a neighborhood breakdowns call Bayside.
The area around your safehouse is a safe zone, and so are some friends' places, like the club where Dre'Quan Priest works. You can't steal cars there.
What you can do at home
Nelson showed the safehouse in a closed preview in July 2026. The details that came out of it:
- Eat, drink, smoke a cigar, watch TV and sleep. How well you sleep affects how you recover.
- Shave and trim your hair or beard. For a new haircut you go to a barber or salon.
- Keep food and drinks in the fridge.
- Friends drop by, and the place fills up with photos and personal items.
Rockstar built a grocery shopping system for restocking the fridge and then cut it, Nelson said. The gym is somewhere you go with a membership, not something you have at home.
Garages
Garages are the property you do buy. You start with space for three personal vehicles, and each garage you buy adds more. When you're full, you sell a car to make room. Rockstar says every personal garage in Leonida has a weapon locker and a stash for stolen goods that a local fence will buy.

What about businesses?
The Ultimate Edition lists several "businesses", like Rideout Customs, Stock 305 and Sara's Unisex Salon. Those are shops you visit, not ones you own. Characters like Boobie Ike own real estate and clubs as part of the story, but nothing suggests you can buy a strip club or a car lot yourself. The map does show gang hideouts, including how much cash and drugs they hold. Those are targets to rob, not property.
